See us in the ULTIMATE C2C guide

A friend and I walked the C2C in May 1997, (we do not own a bike). These photos were taken on the only two dry days we had. So do not feel upset if it rains on you to.

Y our proprietor, Jan, will offer you a hot or cold drink on arrival. There is a lock up for your cycles (at your own risk) and drying facilities for wet clothes. Evening meals and packed lunches are available, please book in advance. Water bottles can be cleaned and filled up.
There are two public houses within 50 yards of Castleneuk. The Smelters Arms is the only pub within walking distance which serves food. The Fleece Inn serves hand pull ale and The Castleside Workingman's Club serves beer/lager at club prices.

T he C2C route crosses the main A68 trunk road at Rowley, Nr Consett. Turn LEFT (NORTH) and follow the A68 for one mile to the village of Castleside. Castleneuk Guest House is straight over the crossroads passed The Smelters Arms and 50 yards on the left.
After your substantial breakfast, there is a choice of a two mile road ride direct to SAFEWAY or return to the C2C route at ROWLEY and cross over The Hounsgill Viaduct. The views are not to be missed.
