Spend a day at BEAMISH, the European Museum of the Year, which recreates life in the North of England in the early 1800 and 1900s. Visit Washington Old Hall, the ancestral home of America's first President.

T he Sea to Sea, award winning cycle route crosses the A68 one mile south of Castleside. Your cycle can be locked up and drying facilities are available for those unfortunate to arrive wet. Walkers are also welcome and can roam the many local moorland footpaths or enjoy The Derwent Walk, Lanchester Valley Walk or The Waskerley Way.
